Call for New Members

up//root is a community + publishing platform amplifying critical voices in libraries, archives and cultural heritage. We are a space to connect and imagine free futures together. We primarily publish essays, blogs, interviews, + book reviews, but have also worked with a variety of creative expressions including poetry, photography, illustrations, audio/video and more. Our function is to create space to interrogate important questions and discussions in information industries.

We are QTBIPOC led and rooted in anti-capitalist, anti-racist, + abolitionist thought. We are seeking funding, but mostly a labor of love.

We are looking for members to contribute to the new iterations of our community. if you are affiliated with the information community, have capacity to be a part of a collective (3-6 hours per month including one monthly meeting, quarterly projects, future building etc.) and interested in any of the following:

• Editing + thought partnerships

• Writing

• Graphic design

• Social media

• Creative thinking + ideating

• Zine making

• Grant writing

• Community building

• Critical topics in information
