What’s new at up//root

up//root is out of hiatus, and ready to get back to publishing work from Black, Indigenous and People of Color within the archives and LIS community.  We are currently working on a few submissions we are excited about, so please keep an eye out for those! Here’s a few new updates from the editorial board:

Audio Recorded Articles

Select up//root articles now have added audio functionality. You can hear Katrina Spencer read The Comprehensive Guide to Resisting Overcommitment in its entirety and pretty soon, you will be able to hear Michelle Khuu read Make the Library Loud: Removing Communication Barriers for Library Workers with Hearing Loss. up//root is dedicated to becoming more accessible, and will try to provide as many audio recordings of our articles as possible.

Readers Can Directly Support Authors

Our contributors have authored transformative work. Though all up//root contributors are compensated for their submissions, readers now have the opportunity to support authors directly by chipping in through their linked payment apps. Supporting authors is completely optional and we will be adding links periodically.

This hiatus has provided the editors some much needed space to breathe and rethink a lot of processes. As always, we are grateful for your patience and community.

If interested in submitting, or becoming a peer reviewer at up//root, please visit our submissions page.
